Awer, born in Polignano in a mere 1986, started to paint graffiti around 2000 and in 2005 he moved to Milan where he graduated as graphic designer and art director in New Accademy of Fine Arts and in the meanwhile he started his personal artistic research and he had chance to start with the first exhibitions and commissioned works; he works as freelancer artist and tattooer and is based in Berlin.
His work is a line based world where landscapes and oniric creatures hypnotize the viewer into this fluid vibrantly movement.
Inspired by nature creations, sea and anatomy, Awer is a fluid magma in continuous motion that advances and propagates chaotically, taking shape from the flow of ideas he encounters and which movements he generates in a sort of a dance. A hypnotic aesthetic scenario that uses the "styluses" of Op Art, psychedelic art and computer graphics to create surrealistic visual paracosmos. The imagery of Awer is dominated by irregular streams of parallel lines that, as if moved by waves of a sound rhythm, spread brightly like energy trails.
Artistic productions that investigate the boundaries of perception, capture the view of the spectator in a sensory experience.

How did you start making art?

I start painting graffiti at 14 in far 2000, I saw some people from my town in south Italy painting few walls and it was such a magic thing for me to see this big drawings appearing after some nights, so magic that catch me into this and never left me; after years of evolution this hobby evolved with myself and it became a full life research so digging into this forever is a unique reason to be on this world without getting involved in some boring capitalistic activity.

How would you describe your work and the message of your art?

My work changes with the time and the message too, recently is not a direct message but usually the goal is to make your mind mesmerizing into this hypnotic landscapes that recently rappresents a macro vision of anatomy illustration about whats happening in our minds while we feel different sensations; in the latest period I'm driving into a more immersive adventure, making my painting more interactive, trasforming your vision offering a 2d painting on a wall which turns 3d after you enjoy it with chromadepth glasses or with my latest installation where I painted some full room with this technic that drives the viewer into a full immersive experience trying to put people into a new reality!

Where do you find inspiration from?

My inspiration comes from my life experiences, can be from the contact with some lovely nature experience getting in love with the sea and all his creatures; a big partner of my art is the music, I'm pretty sure that my art would be different if I had another taste in music, electronic dance music is really guilty in this process, my lines are one after the other like a beat and it get fluid and full on dynamic like techno does.

I search something which doesn't exist and in the same time I'm inspired by something which is not really painting, like computer grafics in it's first shapes, optical art and I'm a really a fan of medieval engravings and anatomy illustrations, put on some good music again and for sure some lysergic experience make all things magically different.

Is there an artwork that you are most proud of?

For sure I have some artwork I love more then others and some experiments which win over other experiments, I really hate to follow rules so basically almost ever i play without schemes, experimenting with a goal, from canvas to walls to tattoo, of corse what I love most is to paint on huge buildings!

How do you know when a work is finished?

It's really difficult to answer this questions, but basically a work is finished when it's cool for my sense of estetique, let's say I'm a fan of horrorvaqui, I love to fill the full space I can paint, often is too much, but i know when it needs something more to be done!
