River Cooter

River cooter turtles — shell markings drawn out into a repeating field of concentric plates. Fifteen pieces carry it, including t-shirts.

The shell is already a pattern

A turtle's carapace is divided into scutes, each with its own growth rings. Nature did the geometry; the drawing just follows the plates and lets them tile.

Slow, in a good way

Concentric forms read as calm. It is one of the least busy prints we make, which makes it the one people choose when they want the pattern to sit quietly.

What it comes on

T-shirts, shirts and accessories. The rounded plates suit a soft garment better than a structured one.
